The new season is upon us. And the Italian Environmental Fund (Fai), on the occasion of the Spring Days of 25 and 26 March , has organized a calendar full of initiatives that embrace the whole island , with guided tours of the precious monuments of Sardinian archeology, which will support the Foundation's mission to protect the cultural heritage .


It starts on 25 March from Villagrande Strisaili , at 9.30, with a visit to the archaeological complex of " Arcu e is Forros ", a large village-sanctuary at the gates of Ogliastra built by the Nuragics and characterized by three "megaron" temples built in 1200. At the same time, the former prison of San Sebastiano in Sassari will be opened, a fascinating, mysterious place full of dramatic suggestions, but closely linked to the history of the area. Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March, visit to the Istituto dei Ciechi of Cagliari near the Roman amphitheater and the botanical garden , historic place of education for generations of blind young people.

On the same days in Nuoro, a visit to the old San Francesco hospital complex , the first health facility in the city built in the first decades of the last century and abandoned at the end of the 1970s. Sunday 26 March, upon reservation it will be possible to walk through the spaces of the Terna station in Codrongianos . Doors are also open to the former prison La Rotunda of Tempio Pausania which is located just outside the historic centre, a symbol of the city.

Reservations required on 25 and 26 March, you can visit the Eleonora d'Arborea dam in Busachi , a majestic example of hydraulic engineering . In Assemini, on the other hand, doors open in the Conti Vecchi Salt Pans, between the museum and the guided tour by train inside the Salt Pans and a 2.5 km route through the Mediterranean scrub up to Porto San Pietro. Finally, Fai opens the doors to the Talmone military battery of Palau for two days with a mini-trek along the path from Cala Scilla and a guided tour along the 800 meters of the old military paths, to discover the history of the former battery of the fortress of La Madeleine .
