The price of oil is stable, while that of gasoline continues to rise. The complaint comes from Codacons, which reports the areas of the country where the price lists at the pump record the highest levels. And Sardinia is among the regions that exceed 1.7 euros per liter.
On the urban network, all Italian regions have average prices for petrol above that amount: the highest prices are in the province of Bolzano, where the cost of unleaded petrol is 1.765 euro/litre, followed by Calabria (1.752 euro), Basilicata (1.749 euro), the province of Trento (1.747 euro) and Sardinia (1.740 euro). The lowest average price is in the Marche, 1.704 euro/litre, and in Lazio, 1.705 euro/litre.
"These increases are being recorded despite the fact that oil prices, after the jump following the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Iran, have stabilized, with oil sold at around 76 dollars a barrel," adds Codacons.
The risk, according to the consumer association, is that speculative phenomena are underway aimed at increasing fuel prices at the pump in view of the upcoming summer departures of Italians: a trend already observed in the past and "which would have enormous impacts on citizens' fuel costs", denounces Codacons, "we expect the government to be extremely vigilant also because the increase in petrol and diesel fuel has direct negative effects on inflation and on the retail prices of all goods transported by road".
