The end of a nightmare for the residents of Via Bellieni, in Selargius. Approximately fifteen families had been living without water for over a year, with swimming pools and emergency showers in the courtyards also used for washing dishes and laundry. After a sweep to eliminate the illegal connections (installed by a group of undocumented neighbors), Abbanoa management conducted yet another inspection to definitively resolve the problem.
"The main on Via Bellieni in Selargius will be completely redone." This was decided during an inspection by Abbanoa Board of Directors Chairman Giuseppe Sardu and the technicians responsible for managing the water networks. For several weeks, continuous drops in pressure and interruptions had been reported: residents' reports have not fallen on deaf ears and have already led to several interventions, including restoration of legality. Several illegal connections were present on the street, which were eliminated during an operation involving not only the operator's technicians but also the Carabinieri from the Selargius town center station. Subsequently, several activities were carried out to restore the water network to full functionality, including the regulating valves. Now the entire water network is being completely replaced: the maintenance company has already been alerted and will begin operations next week. Approximately 60 metres of new pipes with a diameter of between 80 and 100 millimetres will be laid, and the connections to utilities that have shown signs of being critical will also be redone.
Work will begin on Monday. "It's our precise duty to resolve user problems," commented Abbanoa Sardu, Chairman of the Board of Directors: "For this reason, we've implemented all necessary measures to find a permanent solution to the critical issues that have arisen on this road."
