The municipal administration of San Gavino meets the request of the Asl del Medio Campidano to have large and suitable premises to host the 118 emergency service which is currently suffocating in the spaces of the old hospital.

For this reason, the city council unanimously approved the concession on free loan to Areus, which controls the 118, of the municipal premises in via Pascoli, which previously housed the social services and later the Union of “Terre del Campidano” Municipalities.

The councilor for social services, Bebo Casu, is satisfied with this decision: «This important agreement makes it possible to maintain an important health emergency service in San Gavino, in particular to ensure that the ambulances leave from a geographically central point in the area. It is also important for the operators to be a short distance from the emergency room of the hospital for which via Pascoli is the ideal location as an alternative to the hospital».

The mayor Carlo Tomasi is on the same line: «The spaces will be granted for 15 years, a period necessary to amortize the investments that the health company will make on the structure. The costs of the works to adapt the building are borne by Areus: our operating method is to maintain the services in San Gavino. All improvements and repairs must be authorized by our Municipality. With the concession of these premises, the emergency service will move from the hospital but will remain in the immediate vicinity".
