The 188 operators of the civic market of San Benedetto in Cagliari are once again on a war footing. To unleash the wrath of the traders is the forthcoming move to the temporary structure in Piazza Nazzari.

Yesterday the deadline for collecting the "reconnaissance form" expired but the pit managers refused to hand it over to the municipal technicians. A mutiny motivated by problems that, they say, no one from Palazzo Bacaredda has ever clarified.

"They gave us a form to fill out for the move scheduled for January next year," says Massimo Ruggiu, 58, president of the committee that brings together the owners of the civic market stalls. "In this sheet we should have indicated the necessary equipment - refrigerators, shelves and more - to be able to work in Piazza Nazzari". Few, however, responded to the requests. "The mayor and councilors have not replied to the fundamental question: who pays the transfer costs?".

Diego Strazzera, 30, sells sea bass and sea bream at boxes 14 and 15. «We refused to fill in the forms that the Municipality gave us. Very few have done it, we are finally united. Our work and the habit of Cagliari people to shop at the market are at stake here». What's the problem? «The file is not understandable, it is illegible. We weren't even able to get the station number, let alone the details of the project. We sent two emails to the Municipality but no one deigned to answer us. We ask for clarity."
