Cycle paths in Cagliari : the Municipality does not leave, it aims to triple and fix those that are too old. The contract just awarded to the surveyor Giuseppe Angius Costruzioni Srl amounts to 573,958.66 euros (plus another 46,000 for safety charges) for the "redevelopment and safety of existing tracks and cycle/pedestrian paths in the city area".

The determination of the manager Illena Sacconi is the act that concludes a bureaucratic procedure that began in March, when the works had been approved by the junta led by the mayor Paolo Truzzu.

The areas affected by the imminent intervention are Is Mirrionis–San Michele (reserved routes created between 2012 and 2017), Sant'Alenixedda-Fonsarda (dating back to 2016) and San Benedetto, where the space for bikes was born in via Paoli even in 2012.

«The routes mentioned», reads the documents, «are those which, among the others of less recent construction, show the greatest signs of deterioration and the need for interventions to improve or restore the safety conditions, also in relation to the evolution of the surrounding environment and the new needs in terms of sustainability and safety of weak users".

According to the administration's estimates , "to the 21.6 kilometers of cycle-pedestrian paths existing in Cagliari, approximately 50.6 kilometers will be added over the next few years to reach a total of 72.2, with a large increase in the cycle network and the 'establishment of project zones 30 capable of promoting coexistence between cyclists and motorists'. In the meantime, the old and by now dilapidated ones are restructured.
