Rubble collapses at La Maddalena hospital, a security guard injured

A security guard was injured in La Maddalena after part of the false ceiling collapsed at the Paolo Merlo hospital.
About a square meter of rubble broke away and hit the man in the hand. Immediately treated, he was discharged with a prognosis of six days.
The episode occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday in the room dedicated to the security staff service.
On the case, Roberto Li Gioi, regional councilor of the Five Star Movement, presented a question to the President of the Region and to the Councilor for Health so that investigations can be carried out «to trace the causes of the structural failures that occurred within a premises, recently renovated." «Hospital security personnel must be able to work in complete safety – says Li Gioi – It is not acceptable for incidents to occur in a public facility, within a place of care, which put the safety of workers at risk».
THE CLARIFICATION - «The episode in question occurred in a technical room located on the ground floor of the La Maddalena hospital and can be traced back to the so-called "breakthrough" phenomenon, that is, a detachment of material from an area of approximately two meters paintings, the causes of which are being ascertained – underlines the Gallura Local Health Authority -. The detachment of material was however cushioned by the presence of the false ceiling, installed in more recent years than those of the building's construction. The health company immediately took action to identify solutions aimed at guaranteeing the safety of workers and users: the technical staff of the Gallura Local Health Authority carried out the preparatory checks to restore the state of the places and, moreover, will shortly launch a campaign of thermographic investigations on the floors of the Paolo Merlo which will allow us to ascertain the possible presence or absence of critical elements in other areas of the building. The Gallura Local Health Authority is already the beneficiary of a loan of over 700 thousand euros from the PNRR: the funds will be used for the structural adaptation of the Community Hospital which will be created within the Paolo Merlo".
