Robbery in Sestu betting center: two men arrested, hunt for third bandit
A 63-year-old and a 33-year-old arrested, blocked in the Cagliari neighborhood of Is Mirrionis and in IrgoliThe Carabinieri have arrested two men for the robbery and brutal beating at the “Planetwin” betting center in Sestu on October 9. A 63-year-old from Cagliari and a 33-year-old from Irgoli, both already known to the police, ended up in handcuffs. The operation was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Sestu Station, coordinated by Lieutenant Riccardo Pirali, with the support of the Squadrone Cacciatori Eliportato of Abbasanta and the Flying Squad of the Cagliari Police Headquarters. The operation took place under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari.
During the robbery, the gang stole 1,800 euros, brutally attacking the managers of the business: one of the owners was repeatedly hit in the head with the butt of a gun, resulting in serious injuries. The other was violently attacked. According to the investigators' reconstruction, the 63-year-old was the main perpetrator of the violence during the robbery. The younger man was said to have acted as a "lookout", later intervening to help his accomplice in a moment of difficulty. Once inside the premises, the 63-year-old threatened the managers with a weapon, then tried to calm the unexpected resistance of the owner and the woman, before fleeing with the loot.
The two then went away into the surrounding streets, disappearing without a trace. However, the intense work of the investigators led to the identification of the two alleged perpetrators. The investigations of the Carabinieri of Quartu Sant'Elena are now focused on the identification of a third accomplice, who allegedly participated in the attack on the owners of the betting center.
The investigations were carried out thanks to the collaboration between the men of the Carabinieri who, in a short time, collected sufficient evidence to request the issuing of precautionary measures of custody in prison by the Judicial Authority.
