The Prosecutor of Cagliari has opened a file against unknown persons on the danger of collapses in via Dettori .

The crime hypothesized in the investigation opened by the magistrates is manslaughter .

In the late evening of Saturday 7 January, the Fire Brigade had ordered the closure of a stretch of road in the Marina district due to obvious cracks in the facade and in the internal parts of a building , which was immediately cleared.

A few days later, following new findings from the fire brigade, another building overlooking a few steps from Piazzetta Savoia was cleared . Other cracks have been identified on the side of the Stairs of Santo Sepolcro, on the wall adjacent to the Youth Hostel.

I'm about eighty people who had to leave their homes - often suddenly, in pajamas and without the possibility of collecting their personal belongings later recovered by the Fire Brigade - and find shelter in hotels or at the homes of friends and acquaintances.

Several professional studios have also closed, while the situation of traders is becoming increasingly dramatic who, at the first signs of recovery after the pandemic, have been forced to close and ask for refreshments that the municipality is not currently able to provide because "the resources are limited".

Just yesterday a meeting of traders was held in the municipality with the councilors for productive activities and public works Alessandro Sorgia and Gabriella Deidda. And from what has emerged, the times for the reopening of the road still seem to be long: "At the moment we are unable to give answers," said Sorgia .

In the 48 or 72 hours preceding the first clearing of the subsoil something could have happened - water leaks have been ascertained - which has caused cracks to appear or increase those already present in some buildings . The investigation opened by Cagliari magistrates is aimed at ascertaining the causes of this situation which has been bringing businesses and families to their knees for days.
