Record October at Cagliari airport: over 420 thousand passengers between arrivals and departures
The summer season goes to archive with one million more passengers than last year
A record October for Cagliari airport, which exceeds the wall of 420 thousand passengers between arrivals and departures.
The best result ever for the closing of the summer season , which recorded data that is still growing compared to the record numbers of the same month of 2019.
Confirming the clear recovery in air traffic, the summer season from May to October recorded 3,031,552 passengers , about one million more than last summer and in line with the 2019 value.
Encouraging numbers also in view of the start, from 30 October, of the winter season, which offers 33 scheduled connections, of which 24 national and 9 international , for a total of 26 destinations served.
The national network, in addition to the territorial continuity flights for Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate operated by ITA Airways and Volotea , also sees the Spanish company operate connections to the airports of Turin and Verona. Also on the domestic front, Ryanair this winter connects Cagliari Airport with Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Catania, Cuneo, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Palermo, Parma, Pisa, Rome Ciampino, Turin, Trieste, Venice and Verona, with the news of the flight to Genoa. In Cagliari also a new Italian company Aeroitalia which inaugurates the route to Trapani, operational since December.
As for the international network, the destinations proposed by Ryanair in winter are Brussels Charleroi, Budapest, Krakow, London Stansted, Malta, Paris Beauvais and Seville. Confirmations also for Edelweiss that in peak season it will operate the connection to Zurich, as well as Vueling that will fly to Barcelona for the whole winter season. "We are confident that the recovery trend highlighted by the traffic trend from the second quarter of the year onwards will consolidate allowing us to exceed 4 million transits at the end of 2022 - the words of Renato Branca , managing director of Sogaer, management company of the airport - a clear improvement even with respect to the best expectations at the beginning of the year ".
"The relevant data is that in the shoulder periods of May and October we exceeded what we recorded in the same periods of 2019 thanks also to the important presence of foreign tourists who historically have always appreciated those months for their trips to southern Sardinia", concludes Branca .
