A twelve-year-old girl was reportedly pregnant following a sexual assault that occurred while she was walking home.

It happened in a town in the province of Cagliari which will remain unknown to protect the identity of the teenager, who chose to terminate the pregnancy .

The incident is being investigated by magistrates from the Public Prosecutor's Office's "vulnerable persons" pool and officers from the Cagliari Police Headquarters' Flying Squad, who initiated the investigation following a complaint filed by hospital doctors.
