Fipe Confcommercio Sud Sardegna increases its fight against food waste, an objective also included in the UN Agenda 2030. "Today we must commit ourselves even more: it can only be contained through a shared commitment", the words of president Emanuele Frongia, a few days before the national prevention day.

In Italy, despite many awareness campaigns, food waste has increased by 9 percentage points per capita (according to the Waste Watcher International Observatory). "We suggest that customers take home what they have not consumed in our restaurants," says Frongia. He appeals to colleagues: "It is a good practice that, although already implemented by many operators in the sector, should be further strengthened. A recent survey conducted on the subject revealed that approximately 40% of consumers have never been informed about the possibility of taking away food."

Fipe Confcommercio is against the introduction of new obligations for businesses. " Now all restaurateurs are equipped to allow customers to take home leftover food during meals ," continues Frongia. "While, to increase donations of leftover food in commercial establishments, the main way is to reduce bureaucratic burdens and the reduction of the Tari."
