"I was afraid for my life." Dramatic testimony was given yesterday in court in Sassari, at the opening of the stalking trial against a 46-year-old man from Sassari. The alleged victim spoke of harassment, threats, beatings, and insults that allegedly occurred last year.
The proceedings allege two incidents, dating back to February and April 2024, but the relationship between the 36-year-old and the man, which continued for several years, has also led to other complaints. The woman described constant calls from the alleged stalker, as many as 60 in one day, and episodes of extreme tension, even in the presence of witnesses. She focused in particular on the occasion when the defendant came to her house and allegedly pulled out a gun, which later turned out to be a blank gun. "Shall we play Russian roulette?" the 46-year-old asked, then allegedly pointed the gun at his own head and pulled the trigger .
"In that moment, I lost years of my life," the woman said in court. The man then allegedly ran the gun over her arm, speaking of a "line of pain" that shouldn't be crossed, as she allegedly claimed she had. The woman's lengthy testimony covered the entirety of a complex relationship, which had also worsened her physical and mental health. Judge Stefania Mosca-Angelucci adjourned the hearing until February for the next hearing. The prosecutor was Alessia Sanna, the civil party's lawyer was Geltrude Carroni, and the defense lawyer was Giacomina Sole.
