The Sassari court acquitted Gianluca D'Aquila, Luigi Volpe, Francesco Misuraca and Giovanni Milani, the four former leaders of the Syndial on trial on charges of environmental disaster for the pollution caused by the illegal landfill built decades ago in the industrial area of Porto Torres .

The panel of judges, chaired by Mauro Pusceddu , therefore rejected the request of the prosecutor Enrica Angioni , who had asked them to be sentenced to 2 years and 8 months each.

The four were accused of lack of maintenance, surveillance and checks in the landfill, which with its poisons contaminated the land and aquifers, thus polluting the entire area with partly carcinogenic and highly toxic substances such as benzene, toluene, various hydrocarbons, arsenic, sulfates.

All substances present in percentages hundreds and thousands of times beyond the limits allowed by the regulations.
