The mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu and his councilor for tourism Alessandro Sorgia ask the Region to remove the ban that prevents cruise passengers who disembark in the capital from making free excursions and which, they emphasize, damages the possible business of Cagliari traders.

Truzzu and Sorgia therefore sent a letter to Governor Christian Solinas, precisely to ask for the elimination of the provision, adopted with the aim of containing Covid infections, recalling how other countries, such as Turkey, Montenegro and Greece have already adopted less restrictive measures .

"Also in light of the progress of the vaccination campaign - write the mayor and the commissioner - and, above all, of the fact that all passengers (and crew members) of cruise ships are subjected to strict health protocols both for of their admission on board, both during the course of the cruise. On the other hand, the disparity in regulatory treatment between the cruise tourism sector and other 'tourism' does not seem acceptable ".

"In other words - argue Truzzu and Sorgia - it is not known for what reason the tourist (individual or group), who arrives in any destination with any means of transport, can move freely and carry out visits and excursions independently, while everything this is still precluded for tourists who arrive at a port destination on board a cruise ship ".
