He allegedly raped a woman while the victim was under the influence of sleeping pills: this is the charge against a 55-year-old man who was sent to trial today in Sassari court by preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana on charges of sexual assault.

According to the charges, the Sassari man, who had been living with the alleged victim for a time, allegedly abused her on three occasions in 2023, taking advantage of her mental state due to the use of sleeping pills, which had rendered her unconscious and therefore incapable of reacting or consenting to sexual intercourse.

The prosecutor is Angelo Beccu, the defense attorney is Daniele Solinas, while Stefano Porcu is assisting the civil party.

The first hearing of the trial will be held before the panel on May 20.
