Investments in roads, schools, the Fornaci Picci factory, and social services. The newly elected Milia administration approved the first budget amendment of the new administration, a €7.5 million financial package that will spread the available administrative surplus within the municipal coffers.
At the top of the list is the €300,000 invested in the TARI (waste tax incentive), a discount applied to bills for virtuous citizens, with the aim of strengthening the relationship of trust between residents and the municipal administration. And again on the waste tax front, potential price increases are being averted: "This," the Municipality explains, "will be possible thanks to the allocation of €700,000 from the revenue recovery recorded in 2025, which aims to maintain the new rates, to be approved by next July."
The budget amendment includes nearly €1 million in investments to finance the redevelopment of Building C of the Fornaci Picci factory. The same amount will be spent on the renovation of the PalaValery sports center within the Is Arenas sports complex, where work has begun on the soccer field and athletics track, along with the associated locker rooms and bleachers. Another €150,000 will be allocated to safety improvements at the schools on Via Bach and Via Turati, €550,000 to install additional playground equipment in the parks, and €600,000 for necessary work at the municipal cemetery.
The government's surplus will also fund the sixth batch of asphalt paving, €1.2 million, and several Social Services projects: €250,000 for inclusion, and additional resources have been set aside to provide support for homeless citizens.
Furthermore, during the same first meeting of the Council, a resolution was approved proposing to the Council to join the national tax debt write-off program: a solution that accelerates the regularization of debts and eliminates the possibility of litigation and the need to manage past debts. Audits conducted by municipal offices reveal registered debts totaling approximately €27 million.
