There is discontent, but also some consensus. The decision to stop the accompanying music in the clubs of the city center and the coast - at midnight during the week as a general rule, at 1am on summer weekends for the bars on the coast - triggers the first reactions among the Poetto operators .

«We are disappointed, this summer we will be forced to close at 9pm», comments Gianni Murru, owner of Altamarea and FIBA delegate for Quartu. «Kiosks cannot become discos», claims Alessandro Vargiolu of Blue Sky.

What changes

The changes to the municipal regulation were introduced with a council resolution that reached the Council a few days ago, and was approved amidst controversy from part of the minority. In addition to the restriction of opening hours , there is a harsh crackdown on those who do not respect the rules: anyone caught playing loud music twice during the year - in addition to a fine - risks suspension of activity for ten days . , one month if four violations were detected during the two-year period.

The reactions

The trail of discontent among the managers of the Poetto factories is inevitable, as they are struggling with the start of activities in view of the summer. «We know that discos are not allowed here, but a regulation cannot be imposed against everyone if there are only two people who do not respect the rules», underlines Gianni Murru on behalf of his business, and of most of the operators on the Quartese seafront which he represents as a citizen delegate of the Italian Federation of seaside resorts. «There have been unpleasant episodes in the past , but it is a problem of public order not due to the music, and much less the responsibility can fall on those who work on the coast. People come here because there is entertainment, without the possibility of having music there is no point in working: this summer we, like most, will close at 9pm."

Alessandro Vargiolu, president of the coop that manages the Blue Sky, doesn't think so: «I agree with the mayor's words: musical accompaniment is right but without exaggerating the volume and until a certain time, otherwise families will continue to move away from the coast. However, I don't agree when he says that we are only beach concessions: ours are also recreational facilities, so they are not doing us a favor by granting us the possibility of catering and other side initiatives, the law allows us to do so."

Mayor

Graziano Milia does not retreat an inch and defends the decision : «Entertainment music cannot be transformed into a concert or a show, to be able to do them you need authorizations and special premises. I repeat: the intent is not punitive but aimed at restoring the rules, especially in a very sensitive part of the territory like the Poetto which we have the duty to protect".
