Quartu mourns the goldsmith master. Marco Danese, 81 years old, well known to everyone in Quartino and beyond, who spent almost his entire life creating jewels as if they were works of art, died suddenly. For Pope Wojtyla he had made a rosary and for Pope Francis the cufflinks.
Born into a family of goldsmiths, he too could only continue on that path. He was ten years old when he began to handle the blowtorch. He loved to say: «My grandfather and my father taught me everything and even when I was little they put me to do something». And from there that something became wonderful creations: everything became magic in his expert hands who modeled the filigree until it became something unique and precious.
Marco Danese worked at full speed even at night in his workshop, teaching the basics to his children. The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 3pm in the church of Sant'Agata in Piazza Azuni.
