Last night, Carabinieri officers from the Quartu Mobile Radio Unit arrested a 55-year-old man from Cagliari, resident in Monserrato. He is a worker and known to the police and is believed to be responsible for the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The officers, on routine patrol, spotted the man walking along the downtown street when, upon seeing them, he tried to speed up his pace in an attempt to escape. This action didn't go unnoticed by the Carabinieri, who then decided to identify him and subject him to more thorough checks.

The personal search and then the search of his home led to the discovery of a block of hashish weighing almost 90 grams in total, 12 doses of hashish already divided for a total weight of approximately 9 grams , a couple of hundred euros and various materials for cutting and packaging the drug, all of which were seized.
The 55-year-old was placed under house arrest pending a fast-track hearing to validate his sentence. He will appear in court tomorrow morning for his trial.
