Portovesme, the video of the workers on the chimney: "True answers or we won't go down"
Faces covered and helmets on, four climbed 100 meters in height: they ask for answers on the price of energy which risks closing the factoryProtective helmet on the head, face covered with a balaclava for the cold and not to be recognized, work goggles to hide the face even more. Here are the images arriving from a height of one hundred meters, from the belly of the chimney of the KSS plant of Portovesme srl: four workers have climbed here ( HERE THE NEWS ).
They are protesting, also on behalf of nearly 1,200 colleagues, against the crisis in the industrial area of Sulcis Iglesiente and the lack of response from the Region on the energy question: the costs are too high, the plant risks being blocked.
"This is not a coup", reads a note released by the workers' assembly, "but it is an action in support of the disputes and initiatives implemented up to now by the RSU and the trade unions. At this point we need to have an urgent meeting at the ministry to open a national discussion with all the interlocutors sitting at the same table and find an immediate solution on the energy front. Reassurances are not enough, but serious and strong commitments are needed to get us off».
"We risk definitive collapse," adds the regional councilor of PSD'Az, Fabio Usai, who has strong roots in Sulcis, "in these dramatic hours in which the fate of the last large factory in our area is seriously at risk, I'm strongly urging the
president of the Region so that he can put in place a new intervention with respect to the management of the multinational company but above all towards the national government, the true subject entitled to manage the dispute".
