The "radioactive" cargo that arrived last week at the Port of Cagliari will be sent back to the continent.

Therefore, a week after our newspaper's investigation, confirmation arrives: part of the containers loaded with steelwork fumes destined for "Portovesme srl" which arrived on the Ponente quay in the Cagliari port were found to be radioactive during radiometric checks.

The confirmation comes directly from Piazza Palazzo's number one, the Prefect of Cagliari Giuseppe De Matteis : «The containers and the material contained therein will not remain on the island».

It is the State representative who illustrates to the Sardinian Union the operations that will have to be implemented to send back to the sender those steelworks fumes contaminated by the very dangerous Cesium 137 : «Portovesme srl – confirms the Prefect – is already agreeing on the partial return of the load (the six containers involved) with Arvedi SpA".
