A 34-year-old resident of Portoscuso was arrested overnight by Carabinieri officers from the local station on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The man, a construction worker already known to the police , was caught acting suspiciously in Piazza Friuli during a routine territorial control operation.
Upon seeing the patrol, the 34-year-old allegedly attempted to throw away a small cellophane package, which later turned out to contain 0.20 grams of cocaine. This action aroused the officers' suspicions, and they decided to conduct a search of his home.
The subsequent inspection led to the discovery of an additional 10.87 grams of cocaine, already divided into doses ready for sale, as well as 7.60 grams of hashish, two precision scales, and drug packaging materials. All the material was seized.
The man was arrested and, after the usual formalities, he was placed under house arrest pending trial in a fast-track trial scheduled for today .
