From industrial policy to the port works, from interventions for the redevelopment of schools, through social services and up to the relationship with the various territorial and institutional bodies, multinationals and municipalities. The Democratic Party of Porto Torres, which within the municipal council represents the most important group of the majority in government of the city, takes stock of the three years of municipal administration and responds to the accusations of the Psd'Az.

"We have the mayor, a deputy mayor, 3 other councilors and 8 city councilors - underlines Antonello Cabitta, city secretary of the Democratic Party - we have worked well and we think we can have our say on what has been done". A job that the Dems believe they will also put on the table during the regional elections. «They accuse us of having a position of subservience towards Eni, but it is clear that through the industrial Consortium the procedure for the relegation of the industrial areas has been advanced for the first time in order to hope for a new development of the industrial port». And on the request addressed to the multinational for an inspection of the sites subject to reclamation interventions, the Democrats underline "the lack of availability on the part of Eni". And if there is consensus on the methane pipeline and the regasification terminal, they ask for greater involvement in the choices made. «This administration wants to discuss the advantages of this plant, discuss with Snam and the Government what could be the best convenience for the territory from an environmental and prospective point of view», highlights Cabitta. «We want the choice to be shared, because we still believe that regasification on the mainland is safer, it does not create limitations on the port from a safety point of view. We want to talk to Snam to make our reasons heard."

Among the representatives of the Democratic Party, the group leader Gianpiero Madeddu intervenes on the works planned in the port to reiterate that, despite the delays, "we have managed to accelerate some interventions relating to the former fish market". And then «in ten years of previous administrations, relationships with the territory were lost. While this majority managed to mend those ties and create a network of relationships with important bodies. Today we have re-established discussions with the municipalities of the vast area and if we want to create a system this is the way to go."

Among the projects that the Municipality has carried out are also works on the redevelopment of schools and social services. «Porto Torres has a rather important social problem, with an expenditure of 9 million euros, deriving mostly from regional and ministerial transfers, to which are added its own resources, sums intended for personal services», explains the deputy mayor Simona Fois. «Citizen income was a tool that offered support to families. In fact, in recent months, there has already been an increase in access to social services compared to the past by people who previously managed to make ends meet thanks to this measure. We in our small way have increased economic contributions, but we cannot think of burdening the municipalities with a series of tasks that they cannot cover." On the financing obtained for the basilica of San Gavino, the two churches of Balai and the Inversol fire, they note: «The resources obtained from the Region did not have any intercession but are the result of projects presented or sums owed».
