«Always live with us…», the inscription at the entrance to the church. A roar of engines running at full speed and tears on the faces of motorcyclist friends is the moving tribute to the entrance and exit of the coffin from the basilica of San Gavino.

The last farewell to Cristian Piras is heartbreaking. The young man from Porto Torres lost his life last Monday in a terrible accident on the eve of his twentieth birthday . On the coffin a black helmet and many white flowers. «Love, that same feeling that Cristian has given to others, is the only true value of life that not even death can erase. And if it is difficult for us and for parents to accept the disappearance of a young man at the age of 20, there is a greater connection between heaven and earth that can be perceived with the eyes, a connection that not even death can cancel». A long homily and a lot of emotion in the words of Don Diego Pinna, the parish priest who officiated the mass, concelebrated by Don Michele Murgia, for the farewell to Cristian Piras.

In the church a crowd of friends and relatives, the pain of mother Cinzia and father Roberto, but above all many young people, to testify to the love for the boy remembered for his generosity towards others, commitment and passion for work.

He lost his young life in a head-on collision on the Due Mari road, while on the provincial road 42 aboard a black Punto, returning to Porto Torres at the end of a day's work in a well-known hotel in Alghero. At 6 pm the terrible head-on against a 500L driven by Gavino Deligios, 45 years old from Alghero. A cruel fate for a young man who loved engines, he had played in the Turritana youth team and dedicated his free time to collaborating with the voluntary association La Sorgente, which offers assistance to people with disabilities.

"Inside the thoughts written by friends in a place of death there is that word 'always' which allows life to never end - continues in his homily, Don Pinna - and reminds us that there is a strong bond with those who in life he sowed love. As Christian did. A love experienced in life that cannot be erased, because it is the only thing that matters in our existence, as well as the time dedicated to others and how much we have enlarged our hearts out of love for people".

The notes of "Deus Ti salvet Maria" and "Non potho reposare", sung by the singer Silvia Sanna, marked the moment in which the coffin left the church. The launch of the white balloons and the noise of the motorcycle engines accompanied Cristian on his last journey.
