A faint moan. A desperate cry for help. Thus a cat was found on the Balai seafront in Porto Torres, with obvious signs of torture.

The animal's chest was trapped with a strap, so tight it prevented the feline from eating.

The person who found the black cat in serious condition was a girl who didn't hesitate for a moment to entrust it to the care of Antonio Spina, a local vet.

To remove the noose that was compressing the poor animal's side, the doctor had to sedate him. The cat is fine now.

For the girl who has been offering him food for some time, it was a moment of panic but also of anger. “We wonder why animals are tortured like this,” observe some volunteers from associations that take care of cats.

"It's absurd - they add - to think that there are people capable of carrying out these atrocities."

Last December three kittens were killed in front of the nativity scene set up near the basilica of San Gavino.
