The trial with immediate judgment has opened in the Court of Assizes in Sassari against Fulvio Baule , the 40-year-old from Ploaghe who killed his in-laws with an ax in Porto Torres last February and reduced of life the wife.

The Court , presided over by judge Massimo Zaniboni, alongside Monia Adami, rejected the request for a psychiatric report on the defendant, presented by the defense attorney, Nicola Lucchi, and scheduled the next hearings, admitting 29 witnesses to trial, 13 for the prosecutor Enrica Angioni and 16 for defense.

The texts indicated by the civil party lawyers , Gabriele Satta and Gianmario Solinas, who assist the victims' families , were instead excluded.

Baule, present in the courtroom, refused to be filmed by photographers and television cameras, keeping his head down and staring at the floor throughout the hearing.

THE FACTS – On 26 February 2022, the 40-year-old, after having argued in the street with his wife Ilaria Saladdino, in front of the building where she lived with her parents in Porto Torres, took an ax from the trunk of his car and hit the head first father-in-law Basilio Saladdino, killing him on the spot, then his wife and finally his mother-in-law, Liliana Mancusa , who died in hospital after a month in a coma. His wife was seriously injured.

Baule escaped, abandoning his two one-year-old twin sons who had witnessed the massacre on the street , and then shortly afterwards turned himself in to the Porto Torres carabinieri.

The next hearing will be held on January 17 with the hearing of the first five witnesses indicated by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
