In the first half of 2025, the Porto Torres port recorded a 7 percent increase in transit passengers compared to last year. According to data released by the Sardinian Sea Port Authority, from January 1 to June 30, 175,270 people disembarked and 138,113 departed, for a total of 313,383,000 transit passengers. This positive trend is especially true for a season still in full swing, with the highest influxes recorded in July and August. This Northwest port is growing in numbers and confirming its strategic importance.
According to data provided by the Port Authority, this trend is significant compared to 2024, when 291,446 passengers were estimated to have transited in the same period. "This growth will be quantifiable at the end of 2025, when it will be possible to evaluate both domestic and international market flows," the Port Authority emphasizes.
The port is currently undergoing a reprogramming of port infrastructure projects costing approximately €200 million. These projects, which are already funded and others to be funded, shape the future of the port. This will determine the exclusive use of the commercial port for passenger ships, separating it from the industrial port reserved for freight traffic only. As announced by Port Authority President Massimo Deiana: "The Alti Fondali dock, along with the Darsena on its outer side, will become a commercial dock and a preferred port of call for cruise ships."
