The development of port infrastructures for the stretch of the West and North West coasts (from Terralba to Porto Bello di Gallura) is the central theme of the second territorial meeting on the regional plan of the tourist port network.
And Oristano and the Sinis Peninsula, Bosa, Alghero, the North West coast, Stintino, Porto Torres, Castelsardo, Isola Rossa and Porto Bello di Gallura are the main locations affected by the future infrastructural structure linked to the ports.
All stakeholders, public and private, attended the meeting, which took place in Porto Torres in the morning, in addition to the councilor for Public Works Aldo Salaris. The overall plan is currently in the Vas phase, Strategic Environmental Assessment , necessary to combine environmental protection needs with development policies. The goal, explained Councilor Salaris, is to get approval for March 2023.
“Looking at the coastal part affected by this meeting, there is only one safe segment, Gallura, the rest of the coastal path is devoid of facilities and services to be able to navigate safely. In this sense, the regional plan of tourist ports acquires strategic importance ”, explained the councilor for Public Works Aldo Salaris at the opening of the works. "Our goal is in fact to allow safe navigation of the whole of Sardinia , with the increase in the number of port facilities for the offer of services and ports of refuge, necessary in the event of sudden adverse weather and sea conditions - continued the exponent of the Giunta Solinas - Our Island is one of the most popular destinations not only for the development of pleasure boating but also for all those activities related to tourism. The drafting of this plan, which represents a very important challenge for the future of our region, aims to make Sardinia more and more attractive by extending the season even to the shoulder months and creating those connections capable of benefiting not only the coasts but also to inland areas ".
Aimed at completing the recreational navigation circuit around the island, the Plan aims to build a quality offer that enhances the centrality of Sardinia's position in the Mediterranean. Thanks to the Port Plan, berths will be better distributed along the Sardinian coasts - Sardinia can count on over 1800 km of coastline - with evident repercussions on those small port infrastructures that were normally cut off from the navigation circuit.
The meetings are part of a shared process and represent an opportunity to incorporate the considerations that come from the stakeholders and which will lead to the proposal of the Plan which will then be brought to the attention of the Regional Council. Looking to the next appointments, on 1 June the participatory path started by the Region will touch Arzachena for the stretch of coast that goes from Santa Teresa di Gallura to Olbia , it will close on 8 June in San Teodoro for the coast that goes from Golfo Aranci to Cala Gonone . On the other hand, the first territorial meeting focused on the coast of Southern Sardinia was last week.
