First a project already formalized in the Region for over 30 hectares in Terr'e Picciau . Now another initiative, still in its infancy, which involves an area of about one square kilometer in the locality of Scala sa Perda , a short distance from the other. Two photovoltaic parks, one of 16 megawatts and the other of about 25, that two large companies in the renewable energy sector would like to build in Sestu, close to the Carlo Felice state road, covering with thousands of panels several dozen hectares of land near the roundabout for San Sperate and along the municipal road for Assemini.

The latest initiative

The latest project that has been reported in recent days is from London-based Queequeg Renewables, when about a hundred owners of the Scala sa Perda lands (the so-called “Sheet 26”) gathered in the Town Hall Council Chamber to meet the island representatives of the English multinational. The initiative is still in the study phase , with the proposing company collecting applications to begin the development of the project.

According to rumors , it would be an agrivoltaic system (with solar panels installed at a greater height than traditional ones) that will have an expected lifespan of at least 35 years . The owners of the areas have been offered either the sale of the land or the transfer of the surface rights. The area in question, with an agricultural orientation, extends for about one square kilometer (95 hectares to be precise) from the new state road 131 in the direction of Assemini, running alongside the municipal road that connects the two municipalities. The agrivoltaic plant is intended to have an estimated capacity of 25 to 30 MW.

For now, nothing else has emerged, except that Queequeg Renewables is a company that develops renewable energy in the United Kingdom and Italy.
