Announced, criticized, blocked, re-tendered, published (in August 2024) and now awarded (in January 2025): Ares has assigned the lots of the maxi tender for the supply of paid doctors who will plug the gaps in the staffing of the emergency rooms of the ASL of Gallura, Nuoro, Medio Campidano, Oristano and Sulcis.

The professionals “on rent”, for 12 months, will have a total base cost of 6 million and 304 thousand euros and will each earn just under 85 euros per hour. Then there is the fifth obligation, the possible extension of the service for 4 months. An operation for which the Regional Health Authority has estimated an expense of approximately 9 million euros.

In Gallura, the Mst Gruop won the tender, with a price of 2 million and 35 thousand euros. The same company also won the lot of the ASL of Nuoro, at a cost of 1 million and 163 thousand euros. And again, Mst Group will supply the professionals to the ASL of Oristano, in exchange for 1 million and 697 thousand euros. In Medio Campidano and Sulcis, the Almatea Società Cooperativa Sociale won. The amount awarded for the first lot is just over 298 thousand euros, 1 million and 108 thousand for the second.

THE Pay-per-visit doctors will not care for all patients. To carry out the service of "Active medical guard", this is the object of the contract, they will have to deal only with "minor codes", that is, the mildest cases. They will thus lighten the load of their colleagues employed by the ASL, who will have to deal with emergencies and blood, but collecting much higher hourly wages.

A situation, that of the lack of staff, for which no other solutions have been found: "The alternative is to close the emergency rooms", was explained by the Region.
