Instead of real horses there will be ones made of reeds, and then off we go at a fast pace to try to catch the star while wearing our Carnival costumes.
In the Su Brugu neighborhood of Oristano, preparations are underway for a new edition – scheduled for Sunday, February 23 – of the Sartill'e canna, a Carnival celebration that began in the Seventies and has never stopped thanks to the association for the protection and increase of cane horses, the true soul of the event.
On Sunday 9th the name of the mini race leader who will lead the mini carousel will be revealed . There will be the traditional drawing of lots among the children who attend catechism in the parish of Sant'Efisio. The meeting is in the parish hall after the 10:30 mass.
The rite will be accompanied by the roll of drums and the sound of trumpets. Meanwhile, the work of the association continues without stopping.
In the “Scuderia Su Brugu” the numerous volunteers are working to prepare the reed horses to be distributed on February 23 to the children who will arrive from all over Sardinia . Every year about a thousand reed steeds are made, which are true works of art.
As always, it will be a three-hour show, a game that re-proposes the Sartiglia degli adulti that will be held the following Sunday. The appointment with the Sartiglia di canna is at 2 pm, in the square behind the church. Once the dressing ritual is over, the race to the star will begin until dusk, in a magical and fun atmosphere where everything is in miniature.
