Not just any date but the ultimatum before moving out of the regional offices. Tomorrow morning the fishermen who work in the Oristano ponds will be welcomed in the offices of the regional Agriculture department to take stock of the start of extraordinary maintenance work in the ponds, namely the dredging of the canals to restore the oxygenation of the waters, the lungs of the lagoons.

The intervention, as promised by the Region some time ago, was supposed to start by April, but that was not the case . Ten days ago, when the operators had announced a demonstration in Cagliari, but also to remain in the streets indefinitely, the department called a meeting for May 6, tomorrow, in the headquarters in via Pessagno.

Together with the fishermen of Cabras, Terralba, Arborea, San Vero Milis and Santa Giusta, there will also be the associations representing the fishing companies: Legacoop, Agci, Confcooperative and Armatori Sardi. We will also talk about the problems related to the management of wild fauna, therefore the invasion of cormorants, and the related compensations. But also the management of eel fishing and the use of bertivelli.

"We want to see the start date of the works written in the documents," comments Antonio Loi, president of the Marceddì fishing consortium and also spokesperson for his colleagues, "otherwise it will be the beginning of a protest that has never been dressed up. It is a miracle that during those few days of temperature the lagoons did not turn into a cemetery of fish."
