The ax still looms over the Oristano school with cuts and mergers that seem to never end. For the year 2024-25, in the plan for sizing the school autonomies of the province of Oristano, three further mergers are foreseen.

This is the alarm raised this morning by the provincial school conference in the premises of via Carboni and convened by the extraordinary administrator of the Province of Oristano Massimo Torrente, at which the director Anna Paola Iacuzzi and the head of the provincial school office Elisa Serra were also present.

During the lively debate, mayors, school managers and trade unions agreed in saying a firm no to the hypothesis of a reduction in autonomy, to unacceptable cuts that should be rejected entirely and to the hypothesis of a reduction in school autonomy, proposed from the draft regional guidelines on sizing.

The mayor of Oristano Massimiliano Sanna is particularly annoyed, given that the city is the main one interested in the downsizing. "I contest this policy of cuts - he said - based exclusively on numbers, which cannot be accepted, because it is leading to the reduction of essential services in the territories". Sanna assured that he will immediately take action to meet the regional councilor Biancareddu and president Solinas to express opposition to decisions taken from above.

The interventions of the other mayors, in particular those of Cabras, Ghilarza and Sedilo, were along the same lines. Administrator Torrente assured that he will bring the requests resulting from the meeting to the Region.
