Open to Wonder: Olbia "snubbed" and Nuoro "grainy". And the Sardinian showcase does not mention Sant'Efisio, giants and centenarians
Lots of incomplete or missing information on Italia.it, the promotion site launched by the Ministry of Tourism. Only Cagliari among the "main cities", while Gallura is merged and almost "confused" with SassariPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The main cities of Sardinia? Cagliari, Alghero, Olbia, Sant'Antioco, Barumini and the beaches of the Gulf of Orosei. Enough.
This is what we read on Italia.it , the official site of the "Italy - Open to wonder" campaign recently launched by the Ministry of Tourism to promote the Belpaese in the world.
But, with regard to Sardinia, it is not the only information to be "adjusted" for the benefit of tourists who are trying to organize their holiday on the island.
OLBIA - Some examples? In the search field, if you enter a location, for example Cagliari, the relative card pops up, with images and descriptions. However , Olbia seems to be an exception among the Sardinian localities: in fact, those who search and then navigate will see a few photos, but zero data and information.
GALLURA – Gallura in general does not seem to have any particular importance. On the main page of the section dedicated to Sardinia there is in fact a map which highlights 4 areas: Cagliari and its province, Carbonia (identified with all of Southern Sardinia, including Sarrabus-Gerrei), Nuoro, Oristano and then Sassari, which embraces all of the north of the island. By clicking on the description "Sassari" one would therefore expect to see information also appear on Gallura and the Costa Smeralda. Instead the only mention concerns Aggius, «a real open-air art gallery. This small village is known for its brightly painted doors, geometric shapes and traditional designs». And then «if you move to the coast» the beaches of Platamona, Stintino, La Pelosa and La Pelosetta are listed, giving the idea that the aforementioned localities are located in Gallura. We mentioned Olbia above, but also for the beaches of the Costa Smeralda one is inevitably forced to seek information through other ways.
"DISAPPEARED" CENTENARI – Again: has a tourist heard of the blue zones and wants to know more about the longevity of the Sardinians? Just look for "centenarians" or Ogliastra... no, but no. Typing "centenarians" only three results appear, which refer to the Langhe, the Marches and a Piedmontese tavern. In the "Province of Ogliastra" file, on the other hand, there is no mention of the characteristic that makes this territory almost unique in the world.
CABRAS, AND THE GIANTS? – Another amenity: searching for Cabras, the result appears as “Giovanni Marongiu Civic Museum”, with the photo of the Giants of Mont'e Prama in the foreground. Too bad that in the description there is no mention of the ancient monuments, another symbol of Sardinia in the world.
SANT'EFISIO NOT RECEIVED – Another oversight concerns the Feast and rites for Sant'Efisio, which every year attract thousands of tourists even from outside Sardinia.
Searching for Sant'Efisio or simply Efisio, only one result appears: the one concerning the tower of Coltellazzo (or of Sant'Efisio) which overlooks the bay of Nora.
“GRAINED” NUORO – Finally, Nuoro: on the page describing the destination, the photo chosen does not exactly seem to entice you to visit us. Both for the subject and for the resolution, low and "very grainy".
