An uncultivated area in the territory of Elmas used as an area for dismantling stolen cars? This is what the Carabinieri of the Sant'Avendrace Station are trying to ascertain, after having entered into action in via Sa Mura, following a report received by the Operations Center of the Arma.

A citizen, passing through the area, noticed a car in an apparent state of abandonment and, suspicious of the conditions of the vehicle, contacted 112 to request intervention.
When they arrived on site, the military found a Fiat Abarth in an evident state of dismantling, with numerous parts missing and others scattered around.

Initially, identifying the vehicle was difficult, as the chassis number appeared partially erased and illegible. To proceed with the necessary investigations, the intervention and support of the Carabinieri specialized in technical surveys were requested, who finally managed to recover the original chassis number.
Data analysis revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in the previous months.

Furthermore, in the immediate vicinity, numerous automotive components belonging to different car models were found, some in a state of deterioration and unusable , circumstances which made it necessary to seize the entire area to allow for further investigation.
Initial land registry checks revealed that the area in question is owned by a 98-year-old resident of Elmas, currently domiciled in a nursing home.
The Judicial Authority was informed by the Carabinieri of the Sant'Avendrace Station, who are now continuing their investigations to identify those responsible and clarify the origin of the pieces found.
