Olbia will soon have a marina for mega yachts in the heart of the city. This morning the thirty-year maritime state concession arrived, which concerns a portion of the southern side of the city port. It was signed by Massimo Deiana, president of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia, and Gian Pietro Sirca, sole director of Quay Royal. A process that began in 2004, the date of submission of the first application by Italian Blue Llc on behalf of Quay Royal, and concluded this morning .
The project will be built in an area of over 41,000 square meters, between land and water, which will be able to accommodate pleasure boats up to 150 meters long. There will be 17 berths available in total : with mooring perpendicular to the dock 2 up to 45 meters in length, 8 up to 65, 2 up to 85 and 4 up to 105, plus the last one of 150 meters with mooring alongside instead on a good part of the head of the pier.
"Olbia will finally, after a twenty-year process, have a world-class marina in the heart of the historic center", the satisfaction of Massimo Deiana, President of the AdSP of the Sea of Sardinia. " The new tourist port, which will be built in the southern portion of the Brin, will be the first on the island to host mega and giga yacht classes at its moorings . It is an important first milestone for the entire Sardinian port system which is gradually adapting its infrastructure to satisfy a market, that of recreational boating and shipbuilding, which is constantly growing and has enormous economic and social implications".
The main structure of the new marina will be the old 800 square meter building, built in the 1950s, which was previously used as a mechanical workshop and customs warehouse . Following the redevelopment, it will house the management offices, technical rooms and staff service areas.
The entire dock, currently bordered by flower boxes, will be redeveloped with granite flooring , new bollards for mooring, niches for the water and electricity supply systems for boats, exotic wood flooring, more suited to the marine environment, along the entire edge of the dock. A small portion of the pier, formerly occupied by a fuel distributor, will house a system for collecting bilges and used oil.
The area, which will have bollards and a security service, will be made free for pedestrian access. Part of the pier head will instead become a square on the sea .
