Dog houses, car seats, household appliances, polystyrene boxes, buoys, mattresses, paint cans, tires, two abandoned boats and lots of plastic: in total, six tons of waste collected in 185 large bags. This is the maxi cleanup operation conducted this morning in Cala Saccaia by the Plastic free association, sponsored by the Port System Authority of the Sardinian Sea.

In the field, on the three beaches of the site and among the vegetation behind, about seventy volunteers arrived from many municipalities of Gallura, including San Teodoro, Budoni, Tempio, Luras, Monti and Tula, tourists of various nationalities on holiday in the city and many children from the Olbia elementary schools.

"Ultimately, we are all citizens of the world united by a single goal: to save our planet," said the provincial representative of Plastic Free, Antonella Sotgiu, commenting on the extraordinary result of the event.
