Mystery at Marina di Portisco, in Olbia, where the body of a 21-year-old man was discovered inside a boat moored at pier 7 of the small port overlooking Porto Rotondo.
State police officers, firefighters, forensic scientists, and the Port Authority responded to the scene. Initial reports suggest the boy died of illness or, as seems more likely, from fumes caused by hydrogen leaking from the hull's batteries .
The cabin where he was staying, and where he was found lifeless this morning, is located at the stern . The young man, from Naples, a friend of the boat's owners' son, was staying with the family for a short vacation. Last night, however, he didn't join them for dinner, preferring to stay on board.
According to initial clinical findings, the young man died four to five hours earlier than he was found . Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
