Nuoro, third water main failure, then water starts flowing again. Abbanoa: "The heat is the cause."

Nuoro is moving toward a return to normalcy after water supply problems left the city without water for several hours.
Overnight, the remote monitoring system for Nuoro's city water tanks detected a further drop in the amount of water arriving in the storage tanks from the Jann'e Ferru aqueduct. "Abbanoa emergency technicians were immediately activated," a statement reads, "to verify the presence of a further break in the pipeline, which was located in a location following yesterday's break. The opening of the tanks, previously scheduled for 6 a.m. this morning, had to be postponed to 9 a.m. The city water network is currently being filled."
Abbanoa apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience and assures that any decision, including this postponement, "is made exclusively with the goal of safeguarding service to the public and avoiding much more significant disruptions."
"Unfortunately," the statement continues, "the high temperatures of recent days are putting stress on the pipelines due to the expansion of the metal parts and the surrounding rocks . Every operation on the aqueduct, including filling the pipelines, must be carried out gradually to limit the risk of a new leak."
Abbanoa teams are now working to complete the repair of the last fault. The aqueduct will then be restarted gradually to limit the risk of further breakages. The water currently distributed along the city's 102-kilometer water network comes exclusively from the reservoirs. It will therefore be necessary to restore these with the nightly shutdown scheduled for tonight from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM . If it is necessary to bring forward the interruption, Abbanoa will ensure prompt notification.
Any anomalies can be reported to the Abbanoa fault reporting service by calling the toll-free number 800.022.040, active 24 hours a day.
