They have been in every corner of the city for years, but for a very long time now, due to lack of maintenance or because the privacy regulation was missing, they could not be used to identify the perpetrators of vandalistic raids. Such as the theft of tools in the Carta Loi municipal warehouse.

But in a few days the 110 cameras of the municipality of Nuoro will be back "fully in service" . This morning the strategic privacy design plan was presented to the municipal administration to enhance the imminent development of the urban video surveillance system.

The consultants of the integrated urban security research group presented to the mayor Andrea Soddu and the commander of the local police Massimiliano Zurru the project manifesto which will allow the Municipality to guarantee greater safety to citizens, in absolute respect of privacy rights , also opening the path for collaboration with all police forces.

Currently, the video surveillance system in the city has 110 cameras which within a few days will all be manageable by the local police command of Nuoro, whose staff will be the only ones able to view the images . All with a view to further strengthening safety, both in terms of road traffic and in general.

" We are addressing the issue of security in order to allow citizens to experience the city feeling protected and at the same time guaranteeing them the sacrosanct right of privacy " explained Mayor Andrea Soddu . «Today's meeting - explains Commander Zurru - follows a path of administrative reorganization of the local police command which wants to be increasingly closer to the safety needs of citizens by using the best technologies and safeguarding the privacy of people, whose trust is at center of all the initiatives of this administration".
