Hundreds gathered this evening, starting at 9:00 PM, in front of the entrance to the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro to participate in the flash mob "Lights on Palestine - 100 Hospitals for Gaza," a national initiative of solidarity with the Palestinian people and, in particular, to remember the 1,677 healthcare workers killed in Gaza during the last year of the war. Countless citizens, healthcare workers, activists, and families joined in the symbolic gesture of lighting flashlights, lamps, and tealights.
A collective light that symbolically pierced the night, giving voice to those who can no longer speak and ensuring that a humanitarian tragedy that continues to severely impact the Palestinian civilian population and healthcare system remains undiscovered. During the flash mob, the names of the 1,677 doctors, nurses, first responders, and other healthcare workers who lost their lives in Gaza, often while on duty, trying to save others, were read aloud.
The event is part of the broader national campaign "100 Hospitals for Gaza," promoted by the website www.digiunogaza.it , which gathers support for the construction and rehabilitation of healthcare facilities in the Gaza Strip, where the situation is now at the point of collapse. In Nuoro, as in many other Italian cities, this evening, solidarity took the form of light: a light that calls for peace, human rights, and respect for life.
