Drug production and dealing top the most widespread crimes in 2024 in the province of Nuoro: fifteen marijuana plantations discovered, for a total of 18 tons of drugs seized. The anti-drug operations of the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Nuoro led to the arrest of 30 suspects, the reporting of 40 additional people and the destruction of over 23 thousand plants. The numbers on the so-called red code and gender violence are also significant, with over 180 complaints collected, 150 people reported and 12 arrests. Over a hundred meetings and conferences on the issues of safety and legality held in schools in the area.

The budget with the 2024 data was presented to the provincial command of the Carabinieri by Colonel Gennaro Cassese . Among the main activities this year is also the fight against online scams: in the face of a decrease of approximately 14% in the crimes reported in 2023, the number of crimes discovered that led to the reporting of the perpetrators increased by 17% (153 in 2023, 179 in 2024). On the other hand, scams against the elderly are growing: in the face of an increase of approximately 16% in the crimes reported (34 in 2023, 40 in 2024), the Carabinieri discovered and reported the perpetrators of the crimes in 45% more cases than in the previous year (9 in 2023, 13 in 2024). Regarding road safety, over 250 people were reported and fined for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Colonel Cassese underlined «the constant commitment and dedication of all the Carabinieri in guaranteeing the safety and protection of the community» and highlighted «the importance of collaboration with other police forces, local institutions and citizens' associations, a synergy that has allowed us to obtain concrete results in the fight against crime and that allows us to look with confidence and serenity to the coming year».
