The conditions of Raffaele Manca remain very serious, former mayor of the town, former regional councilor and parliamentarian, victim of a serious accident on Thursday while he was driving a tractor in the countryside of Domusnovas Canales, a hamlet of Norbello .
He has a reserved prognosis, hospitalized in intensive care at the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari , where on Thursday afternoon he was urgently transported by air ambulance due to a serious head injury. From what has been learned, according to an initial reconstruction by the carabinieri, while returning from the countryside towards the town along a nearby road, the vehicle overturned due to a sudden swerve.
Fortunately Raffaele Manca, who will turn eighty in June, was not crushed, but was thrown to the ground, falling unconscious . At home they were waiting for him for lunch but, not seeing him come home, the family members reached the hamlet of Domusnovas Canales, finding him lying on the ground and immediately triggering the request for help.
Manca was mayor of Norbello from 1970 to 1992. From 1990 to 1995 he was in the Region and then held the position of parliamentarian from 1994 to 1996 , elected to the Chamber. Always very involved in social issues, for several years he has been at the helm of the Committee born in defense of hospitals and health in the area , with which he leads a tough battle for the protection of Delogu and health services. It is also part of the Norbello medieval historical group. Now he has been working for some time on a project to enhance the archaeological site of Castel di Sella and the church of Santa Vittoria, near the place where the accident occurred.
Some time ago he had bought the land and for about a year the tractor he was driving on Thursday. During this time he carried out the land reclamation and the planting of trees in order to enhance the site which on several occasions hosted the representations proposed by the Medieval Historical Group. Now not only the community of Norbello, but the whole territory lives hours of apprehension for Raffaele Manca , always ready to spend himself for the community.
