In Sardinia, nearly half of young people struggle with a lack of cultural opportunities, such as the lack or scarcity of opportunities to attend theater performances, film screenings, and other cultural events.
This is what emerges from the analysis of the InClasse platform on Istat data, presented to the Chamber during an event promoted by the Article 49 Foundation .
The national average of young people between 11 and 19 years old living in areas without theatres, cinemas or spaces for live performances is 34%, but on the Island it reaches 45.1% , the third highest percentage after Molise and Basilicata which exceed 50%.
Furthermore, the study also highlights the lack of educational and cultural services, which creates significant regional imbalances. The percentage of students living in municipalities without secondary schools rises to 56.7% in Veneto and 63% in Valle d'Aosta, with peaks exceeding 90% in rural and sparsely populated areas. Difficulty accessing schools also weighs heavily: 26.4% of state schools are not accessible by public transportation , a percentage that nearly 50% in Campania and Calabria, while 22.5% of schools lack school bus connections.
The study also highlights that one in two under-17s lives in municipalities without museums offering activities for children and young people. The regions with the highest percentages include Lombardy (62.9%) and Veneto (62.2%).
On the civic engagement front, 50% do not participate in social or political activities and nine out of ten young people between the ages of 14 and 19 do not carry out volunteer activities.
