The Municipality of Cagliari will spend "only" 688 thousand euros, "useful to organize the whole show safely". There are also some (further) hundreds of thousands of euros financed by the Region available. Mayor Paolo Truzzu rattles off the figures on the costs of Marco Mengoni's New Year's concert during a press conference called to respond to the controversy and give the first indications on how the Fair event will take place.

Money

Next to Truzzu in Palazzo Bacaredda there was also the Councilor for Culture, Maria Dolores Picciau, protagonist of the poisonous social exchanges in the last few days, and also the man who was entrusted with the organization of the entire event: his name is Simone Ruscica, who in Cagliari last year with his company, the F Group, had been directly entrusted with the setting up of the Christmas trees in the square.

Truzzu underlined that «only 250 thousand euros are intended for the singer's performance, entrusted to Live Nation to cover executive and production expenses». The rest of the budget, as explained in a note from the Municipality, is allocated to guarantee safety and cover the organizational costs of the event in the Exhibition Centre, "a thoughtful choice in collaboration with the competent authorities to maximize public safety".

«The expense of 688 thousand euros is one of the lowest figures spent in Sardinia for the New Year's Eve concert», assured Truzzu.

The fair

The mayor then explained why the choice of location fell on the Fair, with a limited number of places: " The reason is linked to public safety", both in terms of the capacity of the space, "larger than that of Piazza Dei Centomila, initially hypothesized when it was not yet known who the singer would be, capable of accommodating a maximum of 13 thousand people", which of the costs because, with the calculations in hand, "would have increased by around 100 thousand euros". Now the capacity is 20 thousand but could rise to 28 thousand.

Councilor Picciau "spoke of the favorable combination of entertainment and tourism for the development of the territory".

tickets

Access to the concert area will be permitted via a free ticket to be booked exclusively online, but only after the results of the meeting of the Public Order and Security Committee convened for Friday 15th. It is assumed that tickets will be made available starting from Monday following. There is the hypothesis that the gates to Piazza Marco Polo will be opened at 3pm on December 31st.
