New landings of migrants in Southern Sardinia . During the night the Carabinieri stopped in Porto Pino 12 non-EU citizens , 11 men and a woman, of presumed Algerian nationality.
The migrants, just landed on the coast, were found in apparently good health conditions.
The operation was triggered after the military was notified of the presence of people along the beach. Once on site, the carabinieri immediately verified the situation, providing assistance to those present and ascertaining the absence of urgent medical needs.
No trace of the vessel used , presumably abandoned or recovered at sea. The search activities, however, will continue to reconstruct the landing modalities and ascertain any involvement of organized networks.
Once the preliminary identification procedures and routine checks were completed, the migrants were transferred to the first reception centre in Monastir.
The competent judicial authority has been informed.
