Medea, a company of the Italgas group, has laid 50 kilometers of "digital native" networks in Porto Torres fed through a cryogenic deposit of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with a capacity of 110 cubic meters . This will guarantee maximum flexibility and continuity of supply and high safety standards.
The company has also made about 1,900 preparations for connection during the construction of the network, has collected 1,200 expressions of interest and has already built about 100 redelivery points for which the installation of the meter can be requested shortly.
The activities to put the entire network into operation have started today and will last a few days, considering the extension of the network. There are over 110 kilometers of pipelines in operation in basin 4 , which will become 130 with the next activation of Stintino , where a 20 cubic meter LNG deposit has already been built, and Osilo .
"With the commissioning of Porto Torres, we reach another important milestone in Sardinia, approaching the quota of 80 cities served by natural gas", underlines Francesca Zanninotti , CEO of Medea.
"The activation of the gas network is a long-awaited news. It comes with some delays linked to the exceptional situation that has hit the planet in the last three years, but now it is possible to start the service in the best conditions", comments Mayor Massimo Mulas .
