The first nest of a loggerhead sea turtle this season has been located in Colostrai, on the coast of Muravera . It was reported by a swimmer (Mr. Mauro) who noticed the tracks left by the turtle as it climbed onto the beach and promptly alerted the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps operations room, allowing the immediate activation of the emergency response network.

At that point, the staff of the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area (which also covers the Muravera coast) immediately took action. In collaboration with the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps of the Muravera station, they secured the area and preserved the nesting site . Marine Area biologists conducted field checks, confirming the presence of the nest by identifying the eggs laid. Over the next 50 days, the nest will be regularly monitored and protected, awaiting the hatching and the extraordinary emergence of the baby Caretta caretta turtles.

On behalf of the Marine Area staff, "a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Mauro for his thoughtfulness and prompt reporting." Along the Sarrabus coast, from Muravera to Costa Rei, passing through Castiadas and Villasimius, the Caretta caretta nests identified in recent years are increasingly numerous. A beautiful calling card for the entire area.
