A power line failure and black smoke billowing over the Gulf of Cagliari. A new year, the same scenes, with the Saras plant as a backdrop: in the afternoon, a thick cloud billowed from the refinery's flares, dominating the western slopes and clearly visible from the capital.

The Sarlux press office explained what happened: "Following the blackout of the last few days, one of the two power lines that supply the site underwent extraordinary maintenance," a statement reads. "The line in service experienced a temporary fault in a high-voltage transformer, which caused the temporary visual impact of the torches."

The Municipality of Sarroch, as is now customary, is relaunching its communication, but this time the Town Hall announced that "in light of the new disruption reported, which follows the blackout of recent days, Mayor Angelo Dessì has formally requested a meeting with Saras–Sarlux CEO Carlo Guarrata to investigate the causes of these repeated incidents and determine what solutions are being implemented."
